Title: Development Account Manager

Reporting to: Director of Development

Location: Washington, DC

Salary range:  $56,000 – $84,000

Job classification: Full-time, exempt; Hybrid



The Development Account Manager will work closely with the Development Team to support the successful execution of a multi-million-dollar fundraising plan. As the Development Account Manager, your duties and responsibilities will primarily include the following, but other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Portfolio Management

  • Work with Development Team to develop creative, strategic approaches to donor stewardship and optimization.
  • Manage a portfolio of strategic partners which could include: Fortune 500 companies, foundations, and employee resource groups.
  • Assist with stewarding existing relationships with existing donors.
  • Engage prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
  • Optimize relationships with our existing suite of corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
  • Support donor prospecting and qualification by identifying, researching and cultivating new corporate, foundation and individual prospects (and other funding opportunities as relevant) to create incremental revenue growth year-over-year (YOY).
  • Assist with grant proposals and reporting in partnership with the Development Grants Manager.
  • Follow up with pending proposals in a timely manner.

Outreach and Communications

  • Assist with campaigns, solicitations, partner outreach and communications, and engagement opportunities with existing and prospective partners.
  • Support cross-Departmental collaboration through timely communication among our various Departments (including but not limited to: Marketing/Communications, Scholarships, Finance, and Programs) to ensure broader success of organizational initiatives.

Administrative Support

  • Support the Development Team with any and all of the administrative tasks to achieve the Development Team’s fiscal year’s goals.
  • Contribute to the implementation and adoption of our SalesForce CRM, with a focus on increasing the efficiency and accuracy of standard operating procedures, such as donor contact/account/opportunity tracking.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities that are assigned.



Qualifications and Education

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience 
  • At least 3 years’ experience in business office, development or nonprofit work 
  • Strong organizational skills, including time and project management
  • A meticulous eye for detail, a thoughtful, analytical approach to managing and completing complex tasks.
  • Deep commitment to APIA Scholars’ mission and strategy with a demonstrated understanding of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) cultures and the issues affecting these communities.
  • Fluency in Microsoft 365 required
  • Prior knowledge and experience of CRM maintenance and optimization a plus (SalesForce preferred)
